Aralx Site Alpha

The official name of Thor Jenssen’s struggling colony on Aralx.

Aralx Site Alpha is the official name of Thor Jenssen’s colony on Aralx. The settlement occupies a sheltered canyon inland from the planet’s narrow equatorial landing shelf, where surrounding rock provides limited protection from the world’s incessant storms. It consists of habitat pods, agricultural buildings, storage structures, workshops, solar arrays, and other modular equipment gathered from salvage markets and frontier suppliers. The colony is small, improvised, and visibly under strain. Its buildings are reinforced against wind and flying debris, often with additional bracing welded on after installation. Narrow fields contain hardy, dust-coated crops, while pens hold genetically modified livestock adapted to local gravity and environmental conditions. An arroyo carries storm runoff through the canyon, preventing serious flooding even during heavy rain. Site Alpha’s settlers are attempting to establish a permanent foothold on a world widely considered unsuitable for large-scale habitation. Their economy depends on irregular freight deliveries, reused machinery, and constant repair. Jenssen’s long-term plan is to alter local weather patterns through precisely timed fusion detonations, creating stable zones around the colony and eventually supporting a permanent spaceport and much larger population.

Spoilers

The colony loses roughly half its population during the failed assault on the Aegis camp, leaving Site Alpha severely weakened but not entirely abandoned.
