Elowen Sato is the disciplined captain of the Far Traveler, a calm commander who leads the human expedition through first contact, crisis, and survival operations on Irrakai. Sato measures decisions against mission survival, launch windows, and the obligations imposed by Reinhardt-Vance’s investment. She is capable of empathy, but command has trained her to translate suffering into constraints that can be acted upon. The worsening situation on Irrakai tests whether discipline can remain morally neutral when every available option abandons someone.
