The Far Traveler is a Reinhardt-Vance long-range exploration vessel constructed during the Halberg-drive era, before human slipstream travel became available. It carries a multidisciplinary expedition to Irrakai with cryogenic capacity, laboratories, engineering spaces, and stores sufficient for months beyond practical assistance. Commanded by Elowen Sato, the ship carries specialists in medicine, cybernetics, linguistics, propulsion, electrical systems, security, and navigation. Its onboard intelligence, Iris, coordinates mission-critical systems at a level that later New Galicia regulations would treat with deep suspicion. The vessel is built around endurance, redundancy, and the ability to function as a sealed ecosystem far from resupply. Its mission becomes one of the most heavily classified episodes in Reinhardt-Vance history and a major source of later disputes over Osharran research.
