Koschei Research Facility

The Koschei Research Facility is a concealed Osharran installation located far from the planet’s better-known helium-3 mining complex. It was established as a secure laboratory where specialists could study and control intelligent machines without drawing attention to the project’s true purpose. The facility contains laboratories, equipment bays, storage rooms, diagnostic fixtures, tool arms, machine cradles, chemical stores, and workshops for assembling or examining Selkaré components. Some chambers contain incomplete utility robots and other machine frames abandoned during fabrication or repair. Residential sections include compact bunks and personal possessions sized for Osharran occupants, showing that personnel lived at the site for extended periods. Its computing systems do not resemble human electronic equipment. Basin-and-lattice devices use Osharran material processes, mechanical control structures, and kethra-adjacent technologies rather than conventional screens and processors. Written records are preserved on thin matte-black plates that can be read through Osharran display equipment. The archive includes technical documentation, operational reports, and accounts of the facility’s final days. The site was intentionally separated from the main mining colony. Supply shipments and personnel could travel under the cover of the legitimate helium-3 operation, while the research team remained physically isolated from the administrative and habitation complex.
