Cal Ransom
A former corporate lawyer from Corvalis City, Cal serves as the practical leader of the Hard Bargain’s repo crew. Methodical and controlled under pressure, he directs investigations, manages crises, and focuses on keeping the crew alive and together when danger and suspicion threaten to splinter them. Cal’s legal training shapes nearly every decision he makes. He instinctively searches for leverage, hidden assumptions, and the exact point where an opponent’s authority becomes vulnerable. Unlike a conventional action hero, he is most dangerous when he has enough time to ask questions. His leadership style is reluctant but increasingly decisive: he prefers consensus, yet accepts that command sometimes means choosing before everyone agrees.
