LexNet emerged from the same effort that produced Fairhold: an attempt to develop something like a universal legal system across scattered worlds, corporations, colonies, and trade regimes. In practice, control over LexNet means control over what the law says when someone checks it. In a legal culture governed by contracts and compliance, that makes LexNet one of the most powerful systems in human space. LexNet is treated as authoritative because courts, corporations, and individuals cannot practically preserve independent copies of every governing document and amendment.
