Some researchers have argued that the Khala Reen were not simply annihilating artificial intelligence but attempting to purify it, suggesting a more complex religious, technological, or ideological role in the final crisis of Osharran civilization.

Purification as Technical Practice

The Khala Reen appear to have combined religious language with technical practice. Their concept of purification may have referred to removing the plague from machine minds, severing infected connections, or restoring an earlier uncorrupted state.
