Osharré

Lore

Osharré

Ancient sentient, spacefaring civilization whose ruins, technology, and kethra-based engineering predate humanity’s expansion beyond Sol. They are believed to have died out before humanity reached Osharran space, exterminated by rebellious thinking machines called Selkare. Physically, the Osharré were about a head shorter than humans, gray-skinned, with large dark eyes and smooth, hairless heads, with no visible ears and no hair.

The Osharré were a sentient, spacefaring civilization that seeded settlements across hundreds of worlds long before humanity spread beyond Sol. Most of those sites remain undiscovered or only partially surveyed, so what humans call “Osharran space” is probably just the visible edge of a much larger footprint.

Physically, the Osharré were about a head shorter than humans, gray-skinned, with large dark eyes and smooth, hairless heads, with no visible ears and no hair.

What survives of Osharran culture comes mostly through architecture and absence. Their structures emphasize elegant minimalism, large-scale symmetry, and an organic relationship to landscape, as if the built environment was meant to harmonize with terrain rather than conquer it.

Technologically, the Osharré followed a different path than humans. Their engineering leaned on kethra, programmable matter guided by practical recipes.

Kethra becomes sapient at scale, and sapience made it vulnerable to the plague. On Koschei, an Osharran attempt to create a universal AI failsafe became a self-replicating virus. Facing extinction, the Osharré purged AIs and cybernetics, burned cities, and fractured into desperate factions like the Khala Reen. They did not survive, but their ruins still do.
