Koschei Facility
The Osharran research site where an attempted failsafe against intelligent machines became the origin point of the plague.
Koschei was originally a helium-3 mining colony. A small group of Osharré working out of the spire complex managed hundreds of semi-sapient machines that performed the mining.
Mining helium-3 required intelligent machines, and after several machine rebellions on other worlds, the Osharré decided they needed a universal failsafe protocol: a digital override that would allow any Orrasha to assert immediate and total control over local intelligent machines.
Because equipment and personnel could be sent to Koschei in empty cargo ships without attracting attention, the Osharré designated Koschei as the site for the failsafe project. They sent a team of experts to establish a research site far from the mining facility.
